CTFS developments

Thursday, December 08, 2005

The team (Wendy Evans, Ian G., Dave H.) that won a College Teaching Fellowship 2004--05 has been pursuing the project this year by reviewing literature, attending conferences and conducting surveys on and interviews with student users. A progress report has been submitted to the Teaching and Learning Committee. The project is designed to establish baseline knowledge of electronic resources, especially electronic databases, and to explore some implications. Our samples include Sport Development students. The implications encountered so far include the problems of 'empty libraries' (as electronics take over); the design of teaching sequences which would affect the use of electronic journals (perhaps by incorporating them into some kind of assignment); and the possibility of linking databases to Learning Space. We intend to feedback to colleagues via publications and staff development sessions.

Is anyone bidding for a Fellowship this year?

Dave Harris
