I delivered a short paper on multi-choice questions in LAT (and EDU) as an offering in the College series Staff Development: Offers and Requests. A small but distinguished group of colleagues attended and most discusison centred on the design of mcq in different contexts. There was also some interest in the possibilities raised by the College's development of Learning Space. Blackboard offers software to help design and mark mcq and there is a possibility of buying in tested mcq from a bank of reliable items.
I have papers circulated at the meeting if anyone is interested.
